On or around the 11′th of January 2010 Microgaming released its new casino lobby update. Mixed feelings have been thrown around many online casino forums and blogs since. The new casino update introduces tabbed options that allow you to have up to 5 casino games operating at once.
Having played the new Microgaming software my concerns lay with the screen resolution issue. The old Viper software would re-size your screen to 800×600. The new casino software has been built to take advantage of wide screen monitors. However a glitch in the software; am told a fix is being released soon, places the casino lobby in a windowed 800×600 and is unable to re-size.
I used 1024×768 and it’s not the most pleasant experience. But I just change my screen size to 800×600, sharpen images up via my graphics card. I’m then back to playing all my favourite online pokies.
It’s been said that Microgaming have just stretches it’s casino game images, instead of producing new icons. That would be the reason why punters are complaining about fuzzy images.
I also noticed that the online casino software is also running slow. EG pokie machine reels are not spinning that fast. But that’s easily fixed too.
Until Microgaming release an updated fix for their new casino lobby, you can use these temporary software fixes:
- Adjust your screen resolution to 800×600 (before opening casino).
- Sharpen your images via your graphics card.
- When casino games loads minimize the lobby and return. (fixes slow spinning pokie games).
There are however a number of Microgaming powered casinos that have not updated their casino software. Although you can’t play the new online slot HellBoy – the comic book hero that’s been converted to an online pokie game by Microgaming.
However if smooth casino game play and fast action online pokies are more your interest you can still play them at these online casinos:
